In spite of the recent effort from Apple, and strongly held philosophy to fully embrace technologies such as HTML 5 over Flash and Silver light by companies such as Google, Flash will be around for a long time. Here is why.

We all understand this principle anecdotally. When you shop for a new car, I guarantee the #1 reason you make the purchase is how it makes you feel. This isn't to say logical arguments aren't deal breakers. If it is too pricey, doesn't have good gas mileage, isn't reliable--all of these reasons may play into the decision. However, without the emotion, rarely is the purchase made.

It seems like there is a cool new product invented every 15 minutes. And, at least a few of them seem so good it is hard to resist buying them right then. How do we know when switch to something new? How do we know tomorrow will not bring the next greatest thing that will make our new cool gadget obselete. We have the same problem with software as everyone has with new gadgets, when is the right time to move to the new technology.

I like things simple. You could say I'm a minimalist. This especially applied to design on the web. Web design, just like any other graphic design, is as much a science as an art. Graphic design is the use of art to create something that is functional. Art can be created for art's sake, having only use to those who appreciate it.

If you think that software is cheap to create think of this, that game that your kid is playing on the xbox probably cost between $6,000,000 and $10,000,000 to make. Many people are suprised at the cost of sofware. Hopefully this post will help you understand the cost that goes into creating software and IOStream's process for determining that cost.

Quite literally, branding as it is commonly known is placing an identifying mark on an item. Many people think of branding as the branding of livestock or pottery. Most understand the concept of a brand as it relates to our modern world. In an advertising and marketing sense, branding is creating an identity for your entity. We all have a sense for what branding is, but many businesses do not understand how to create a brand.

So many businesses and individuals have a misconception about how traffic on the internet works. They assume that simply creating a site, posting it under a domain, and letting google and yahoo know it exists is all that is needed to drive millions of people there. Unfortunatly, this "field of dreams" mentallity is about as real as Kevin Costner's English accent in Robin Hood: it simply isn't true.
